This project transformed a Victorian estate cottage with a contemporary side extension. This created a modern, light-filled spacious kitchen area, connecting the house physically to the garden and visually to the rolling rural landscape beyond.
Carefully-considered windows and rooflights allow sunlight to fill the space day-long, in contrast to the inward-looking rooms of the existing cottage. The internal walls are finished in a warm, earthy plaster while the sloping ceiling line draws the eye out to the view. The exterior of the extension is clad in blackened vertical timber boards as a modern contrast to the stone cottage, while picking up on the darker tones of its slate walls. The cottage itself was fully renovated with new bathrooms, services and a loft conversion to create a beautiful family home.
